Training, demonstrations, farm schools for farmers

Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer (SDAO), Jalukie has launched Integrated Pest Management (IPM) training programme at Jalukieram, old Chalkot and Songlhuh village on June 26, 27 and 28 respectively.
During training programme in all the three villages, SDAO R. Santsu Kithan highlighted the concept and objectives of IPM or FFS and its benefits for effective pest management without polluting the environment for increasing the production and productivity of rice.
Agriculture Officer (AO) A.Renbomo Odyuo presented and demonstrated on the methods of seed selection for higher yield. 
CHIEPHOBOZOU: ATMA Chiephobozou block under Kohima district conducted training on System of Rice Intensification (SRI) and line transplanting-cum-meet appraisal of block farmer’s friend on July 1 at DAO conference hall Kohima.
During training programme, DAO & PD ATMA, Kohima Vizonyü Liezie spoke on biodiversity conservation and importance of farmers’ friend in transfer of technology. In technical session A.O & Convenor ATMA Chiephobozou block Kethoneilhou Vimera explained the procedure of SRI and highlighted its benefits. He also encouraged the farmers to take up the new adoption and facilitate the technology in their respective villages. 
The programme was chaired by Block Technology Manager (BTM) Mvudzeviu Shüya. Altogether 13 farmer friends representatives from different villages under Chiephobozou block attended the training programme.
LONGSACHUNG: Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Wokha block inaugurated farm school on poultry at Longsachung village under Wokha district. The concept of farm school and importance of farm school was shared by SMS, KVK Wokha Mhalo Tungoe. Poultry rearing kits and poultry was distributed to the farm students and teachers and annual flower like geranium, impatiens and polyanthus were distributed to the farm school. Flori farm school Chukitong under Chukitong block was also established with Thunjanbeni as farm teacher along with nine members as flori farm students. Altogether 16 students were enrolled in the poultry farm School.  
TUENSANG: Two day training programme was conducted by KVK, Tuensang for the farmers of Hakchang village and Noklak block on June 30 and July 1.
During the training, SMS soil conservation Imtilemla spoke on awareness of soil and water conservation, SMS animal husbandry Sarendi Walling spoke on the management of rabbit which has a lot of scope in the district and SMS agronomy Tokiho Achumi trained the farmers exclusively on SRI technology right from the seed selection to harvesting stage.  
The other topics included housing, feeding management, breeding management, disease management and azolla in terrace rice cultivation which could benefits farmers not only by improving soil fertility but also increase in the production. Altogether 54 trainees attended the programme including staffs of the ECS and extension worker of agriculture department.
