Training held for Peer Educators and ASHAs under RKSK in Wokha

A training programme for Peer Educators and Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) under the Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram (RKSK), initiated by the Department of Health and Family Welfare, was conducted on August 30, at Chukitong Area Baptist Mission School, Wokha. The resource persons were DCM, Echungbeni, Block ASHA Coordinator, Thunchanpeni Tsopoe, and RBSK Coordinator, Renthungo.
According to a press release by CMO office, Wokha, the resource persons covered a wide range of important topics including anaemia, sexual and reproductive health, mental and emotional wellbeing, menstrual hygiene, nutrition, substance abuse, and gender-based violence. In addition participants were also given a practical demonstration on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and how to provide basic care during emergency situations.
Speaking at the event, Echungbeni Tsanglao highlighted the significance of the training in empowering youth and community health workers as ambassadors of health education. She stated that the training was aimed for a group of selected adolescents and ASHAs who would be trained on various health topics to be later disseminated among their peers in the community.
She further informed that a similar training will be conducted in the Ralan area during the month of September as part of the department’s ongoing commitment to adolescent health outreach across the district.
