With the announcement of the election to the lone Lok Sabha seat on April 19 by Election Commissions of India (ECI), Nagaland has started preparing for the election by conducting trainings for those on poll duty. The Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and District Election Officers (DEOs), Additional Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and Assistant Election Officers (AEOs) have also issued notices and advisories for the smooth and peaceful conduct of elections.

First phase of training for polling personnel were also held across the state, wherein master trainers sensitised the trainees on rules and regulations of the ECI and also be familiarised them about the usage of the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT).
Tuensang: DC and DEO Tuensang, A. Zibenthung Kithan, has directed all the head of the office under Tuensang district to remain in station for the smooth conduct of election. It has been informed that no head of the office are to leave the station without the knowledge of DC and DEO Tuensang. Further, DC and DEO said that no outstation leave shall be granted except under emergency situation/official duty, and that appropriate action shall be initiated as per the relevant sections of the law against absentees.
Zunheboto: DC and DEO Zunheboto has informed that the 24×7 helpline number 6033987285 has been setup in the expenditure monitoring cell to address any unfair practices during the election process.
DC & DEO Peren: DC and DEO Peren, Vineet Kumar, has directed all the village council goanbura/ town council and ward authorities to ensure free and fair conduct of election and for all eligible voters to cast their votes without fear or intimidation in all polling stations under their respective jurisdiction.
Noklak: DC Noklak, Arikumba has informed to all the arms license holders under Noklak district to deposit their arms along with the license at the nearest police station between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. latest by March 30. DC said issue of arms license and renewal would be banned/suspended till the completion of election process.

Further under Section 144 and 144A of the CRPC 1973, DC said carrying of licensed arms has been banned till the completion of election process except by those persons who are entitled.
Chozuba: ADC Chozuba has informed all the arms license holders under Chozuba Sub- Division to deposit their arms and ammunitions at Police Station, Chozuba on or before March 30.
Tuensang: ADC and chairman Medical Board, Tuensang, Thungchanbemo Tungoe, has informed all concern that the applications for exemption from election duties on medical ground would be examined by District Level Medical Board on March 30, 10 a.m. onwards the DC’s Conference Hall, Tuensang.
Mokokchung: DC and DEO Mokokchung, Thsuvisie Phoji has informed to all polling personnel and grade IV staff/MTS requisitioned for election duty that, a medical board for exemption would be held on April 1, 10 a.m. onwards at Planning Hall, Office of the District Planning Officer, Mokokchung.
Phek: DC and DEO Phek has informed all government officials/staffs of Phek district seeking exception from election duty on health ground that district level medical board, Phek would conduct checkup/examine the cases on April 3, 10 a.m. onwards at the Office complex of the DC & DEO, Phek.
Tuensang: A co-ordination meeting with sector officers and sector commanders was held on March 27 at the Conference Hall of DC Tuensang Office, wherein DC and DEO Tuensang, A. Zibenthung Kithan, highlighted the duties and responsibilities of the sector officers and sector commanders.
Mokokchung: A training was held on march 27 at Mayangnokcha Government Higher Secondary School Mokokchung for polling personnel.
Shamator: The first phase of training for presiding officers was held on March 27 at Government Higher Secondary School, Shamator.
Peren: A two-day first phase of training for presiding officers and first polling officers held at three different venues, namely Town Hall, PTWWO Hall and Old Catholic Church Building concluded on March 27.
Kiphire: The first phase training for polling personnel in Kiphire was held on March 26 for presiding officer and first polling officer for Kiphire Seyochung area.
Tseminyu: The first phase of training for polling personnel was held on March 26 at BHSS auditorium hall, Tseminyu.
Phek: The first phase of training s for presiding officers and polling personnel for Phek was conducted on March 24 at Government Higher Secondary School, Phek.
Dimapur, Chümou & Nuiland: The first phase training for presiding officers and first polling officers was held on March 27 at Dimapur Government College, Dimapur, along with officers from Dimapur, Chümoukedima, and Nuiland districts.
Pughoboto: The first randomization of EVMs/VVPATs was conducted by the Office of the ADC and DEO Pughoboto on March 26. Representatives from recognized political parties witnessed the exercise. The second randomization of EVMs/VVPATs would be held on April 3 at RO Kohima.
