Training, meetings & information for ensuing general election

In view of the ensuing general election to the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA), various trainings and meetings are being held and information disseminated for peaceful and smooth conduct of the election.

Training for sector magistrates in Kiphire

In connection with the forthcoming election, training for the sector magistrates was organised on January 27 at the Conference Hall of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kiphire, which was chaired by Extra Assistant Commissioner (EAC) Hq, Ane Khieya. The training was imparted by master trainer, assistant professor ZPC Kiphire, I. Temjen Ozukum on the preparation of sector maps, vulnerability mappings, pre-poll responsibility, poll-day and poll-eve responsibilities while Hotingkyu Sangtam imparted training on EVM/ VV Pay and facilitator, Selila on the postal ballot.

No leave for govt. employees

In view of the ensuing general election, Deputy Commissioner (DC) and District Election Officer (DEO) Kohima, Shanavas C has directed all the heads of offices under Kohima district to remain in station till the election process was over. Further, DC and DEO stated that no leave should be granted to the subordinate officers/staff who have already been requisitioned/drafted for election duty without proper consultation with DC and DEO Kohima.

NPF minority wing central & divisions hold coordination meet

Naga Peoples Front (NPF) minority wing central and divisions on January 25 held a pre-election coordination meeting with members in-charge from its parent body at its Dimapur party office.
A press release by NPF minority wing informed that chairperson of the meeting, NPF minority wing central president, Bishnu Bhattacharjee requested all party worker and well-wishers to stand united and work together for the NPF, the oldest regional party of north east and be a part of “good governance” in the state.
After the coordination meeting, the wings members and officials had a tour at central office, Kohima and also interacted with party president, Dr Shurhozelie and leader, Kuzholuzo Azo Nienu on January 26 and January 27 respectively.

License holders asked to deposit arms

In view of the general election and to ensure peaceful atmosphere in Noklak district, Deputy Commissioner (DC) and District Election Officer (DEO) Noklak, K. Mhathung Tsanglao has informed all arms license holders under Noklak district to deposit their arms along with license at the nearest Police Station between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., latest by January 31. The DC and DEO has cautioned that failure to do as ordered would invite necessary action against the offender in accordance with the provision of law. The DC and DEO has also informed that issue of arms license and renewal would be banned/suspended till the completion of election process. The DC and DEO said carrying of licensed arms was banned till the completion of election process except by those persons who are entitled. Further, the DC and DEO has directed all the administrative officers to oversee that arm licence holders of all types of weapons are deposited in the police station.

Contact Centre & Control Room

In connection with the ensuing general election, a District Contact Centre with toll-free number 1950 and 24X7 Control Room has been set up at the office of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) and District Election Officer (DEO) Kohima. A DIPR report has informed the following: officer in charge – Ruoguolie PS to ADC, Kohima; district contact centre toll-free no – 1950 and 24×7 Control Room No – 03702290148/03702290178. Further, for any issues relating to the forthcoming state assembly election, 2023, any individual has been asked to contact the provided contact details.

DC Mokokchung on vehicle requisition

DC and DEO Mokokchung has directed all Head of Department /offices under Mokokchung district to submit their official /attached vehicles along with the attached driver at Imkongmeren Sports Complex on February 4 at 10am for vehicle inspection and for requisition of the same in connection with the conduct of Nagaland Legislative Assembly election 2023.
The order further stated that failure to comply with this order will invite prosecution under section 167 of the Representation of People’s Act 1951.
