One day training of teachers under district mental health programme was held on Thursday at IDSP, conference hall, IMDH Mokokchung with nodal office DMHP, Dr. Temsuyanger and psychiatric nurse, Akumjungla as resource persons.
Dr. Temsuyanger reminded the teachers that they were the torch bearers of the society especially in the rural areas.
He said teachers must act as agents to identify and refer not only students but also anyone suspected to be suffering from mental illness in their locality for early treatment.
Dr. Temsuyanger also highlighted about the plight of people suffering from mental illness and their relatives and the myths related to such ailments.
Different types of mental illness were also presented and discussed by the participants with the resource persons. Earlier in the programme, word of encouragement was given to the teachers by MS, IMDH, Dr. Medem.
