A week-long intensive training on banana fibre extraction and handicraft development organised by the Shishoi Oshom-Entrepreneurship Task Force (ETF) Cell in collaboration with Nagaland Tool-Room & Training Centre, Dimapur commenced on February 27 at Meriyan Village, Wokha.
A press release by the organisers stated that the training aims to equip participants with essential skills and techniques related to banana fibre extraction and the creation of handicrafts from this versatile natural resource.
Through a combination of theoretical sessions and practical demonstrations, they said participants would learn the intricacies of fibre extraction, yarn spinning, and various handicraft-making techniques.
Farmers representing Tchutho Cooperative Farmers Producer Organization (FPO) and Lichon Farmers Producer Company (FPC) from Meriyan Village are partaking in the training.
