Four-day training of trainers on Community First Responder (CFR) for Dimapur district organised by District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Dimapur in collaboration with State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) Dimapur and Central Training Institute (CTI), Toluvi supported by Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) was held from November 27 to November 30 at Circuit House, Dimapur.
According to DDMO Dimapur, Rendemo Shitio, during the valedictory programme, assistant commissioner Dimapur, Rahul Mali, said that the training on CFR was timely as the communities were always the first responder in case of any disaster incident and before professional help arrive to the scene.
While congratulating the participants for the successful completion of the training course, he also lamented about disaster incidences in the past, where many people lost their lives.
Further, Shitio said that those lives could have been saved had there been a community-level trained disaster response volunteers. He therefore urged the participants to make good use of the skills they had learnt through the training and to impart the same to their communities. The assistant commissioner also gave away training completion certificates to the successful trainees.
Earlier, team leader of all six sub-divisions, in their feedbacks expressed their satisfaction and appreciation to DDMA, SDRF and NSDMA for organising a useful training and assured that they would do their best to take the training down to the grass-roots level in the days to come.
Valedictory programme was chaired by DDMO Dimapur, RendemoShitio, brief report of the training by DPA Bubu Patrick Golmei and the vote of thanks by Kethono Seyie.
Meanwhile, resource persons for the just concluded training were MO, CTI, Dr. ThingtimlaYimchunger, DDMO Dimapur, RendemoShitio, DPA, Dimapur, Bubu Patrick Golmei along with practical demonstrator from State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) Dimapur.
Altogether 35 district trainers from the six sub-division of Dimapur completed the ToT on CFR, who would further train ten volunteers each from all the village/ward under the sub-division in phase manner.
