
Three-day campus training on “prospects of food processing and entrepreneurship” got underway Wednesday at Central Institute of Horticulture (CIH) Medziphema.
A press release by CIH Medziphema stated that the training was being held for the food processing enthusiast of Noklak district, with an aim to boost the potential of value added products from the fruits and vegetables available in the region.
CIH informed that Noklak district has recently inaugurated a food processing unit whereby CIH intends to assist the people of the district by giving them technical support in the field of food processing and post harvest management.
In his inaugural speech, additional horticulture commissioner & director in-charge CIH government of India, Dr. N K Patle emphasised to take up food processing as a means to elevate the socio-economic status of the people and also to prevent post harvest losses.
He also encouraged the trainees to undertake the training with full sincerity and dedication, so that they can go back to their native places and become master trainers for their people
The training started with a brief introduction about the institute and its activities by post harvest technologist, Vinika K Aomi and the The inaugural programme ended with a vote of thanks by senior technical assistant, Mhasizotuo.
CIH stated that the training was being organised in commemoration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, 75 years of progressive India. It informed that the resource persons with expertise in the field of food processing, honey processing and marketing of such value added products would be giving hands on training to nine trainees from Noklak district.
