Training on harvesting and marketing for farmers

DIMAPUR

A two-day farmer training programme on harvesting, post-harvest handling, value addition, and marketing was held at Tethuyo Council Hall, Kiphire on July 23.
Organised by Nagaland Centre for Human Development & Information Technology (NCHD&IT) with support from the National Foundation for India (NFI), the programme was attended by 30 farmers from Tethuyo, Sanphure, and Sangtoze villages.
Experts from ICAR and the department of Horticulture, along with resource persons from NCHD&IT, conducted sessions on: Harvesting and Post-Harvest Management by Alok Dubey and Dr K. Srilikha (KVK Kiphire); Sustainable Farming Practices by Seroba Sangtam (DHO Kiphire); Soil Health & Pest Management by Alemla Longchar (NCHD&IT) and Value Addition and Marketing Strategies by Jenyangsonla Change (NCHD&IT)
The training emphasized improving crop quality, handling produce properly, managing pests naturally, and adding value through drying, packaging, and processing.
Farmers also received guidance on accessing markets and boosting income.
Interactive sessions and practical demonstrations enabled farmers to exchange ideas and learn useful techniques for sustainable farming.
