Training on HIV and STI for Anganwadi workers

A training program on HIV and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) for Anganwadi workers was held on May 30 at the Conference Hall, Chief Medical Officer’s office, Wokha, and the Town Hall, Chukitong.
The event was organized by the Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS), Department of Health & Family Welfare, in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare.
Delivering the welcome address, district welfare officer, Wokha, C. James Ezung, commended NSACS for organizing the training. He urged Anganwadi workers to use the knowledge gained to raise awareness within their communities.
Joint director (BSD), NSACS, Dr. M. Nukshisangla Jamir spoke on the Elimination of Vertical Transmission of HIV and Syphilis, highlighting the importance of early diagnosis and treatment. She also explained the World Health Organization’s clinical staging of HIV and signs and symptoms of STIs.
A session on the HIV and AIDS (Prevention and Control) Act, 2017 was led by joint director (IEC), NSACS Metevinuo Sakhrie.
She stressed the importance of reducing stigma and outlined key provisions of the Act, including rights protection, punishable offences, and disclosure norms.
District program officer, DISHA, Lichumo Odyuo, presented on the basics of HIV/AIDS, the local HIV scenario, and services available in Wokha district. Deputy director (MS), NSACS, Ainato Yeptho, moderated the sessions.
The training was attended by chief medical officer, Wokha, Dr. Thungchanbemo Ezung, CDPO Wokha, Renchano Odyuo and Anganwadi workers from Wokha and Chukitong towns.
Session on Basics of HIV and AIDS, District HIV scenario and services available was taken by Lichumo Odyuo, DPO, DISHA, Wokha.
He explained on the mode of transmission and the activities on HIV conducted by the DAPCU team in the district. Moderator for the training was Ainato Yeptho, Deputy Director (MS), NSACS.
The training was attended by Renchano Odyuo, CDPO Wokha, Dr.Thungchanbemo Ezung, CMO Wokha and anganwadi workers of Wokha town and Chukitong town.
