Re-orientation training on Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme-Integrated Health Information Portal (IDSP-IHIP) for private hospitals in Dimapur District was held on February 28 at the Conference Hall, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dimapur Office.
A press release by the department infromed that the district surveillance officer and district programme officer, Dr. Kavito Zhimomi, said that that IDSP was an instrumental programme in the health sector to monitor 33 identified communicable diseases in the country.
He appreciated the support and co-operation received from private hospitals especially during the COVID pandemic and dengue surge in previous years.
Dr. Zhimomi said the supports in terms of data provided by the private health sector has been highly helpful in formulating the district’s surveillance plan.
As most citizens prefer to avail health services from private hospitals, he said data sharing by private hospitals was crucial in disease surveillance and disease outbreak prevention.
In a brief presentation of IDSP and IHIP, programme officer, Jhpiego, Dr. Antara Sharma, stated that the role of private hospitals was to give real-time data, which may be tedious and overwhelming at the beginning. However, she said the real time data received from all health institutions would initiate timely action and thus prevent outbreaks.
Dr. Sharma re-oriented the trainees on IHIP Portal uploading and provided hands-on training for new inductees.
The training organised in collaboration with Jhpiego, USAID, and NISHTHA was attended by staff from CIHSR (Referral), Faith Hospital, Nikos Hospital, Good Health Diagnostic & Clinic, Nagaland Multi-Specialty Health & Research Centre, Olive Christian Hospital, and Zion Hospital.
