WOKHA, SEP 19 (NPN): Around 100 farmers and agricultural stakeholders from various villages attended a training programme on “Improved Production Technologies of Tuber Crops” organised by ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Wokha, in collaboration with ICAR-Central Tuber Crops Research Institute (CTCRI), Thiruvananthapuram, at VDB Hall, Wokha, on September 19.
The training focused on improved production practices and management of major pests and diseases affecting tropical tuber crops.
Dr. V.S. Santhosh Mithra, principal scientist and scientist in charge, Extension and Social Sciences, ICAR CTCRI, conducted a technical session on production technologies of tuber crops, while Dr. Arutselvan, senior scientist, ICAR RCCTCRI, Bhubaneswar, spoke on major pests and diseases and their management.
District Project Officer, LRD, Wokha, R. Lichumo Murry attended the programme as special guest. The programme was chaired by Megokhono Meyase, CTO (Horticulture), ICAR KVK Wokha.
Dr. N. Khumdemo Ezung, Senior Scientist and Head (i/c), ICAR KVK Wokha, and Lotsomo Yanthan, general secretary, also addressed the gathering. Input materials were distributed to participants, followed by a field visit to provide practical exposure on the topics covered during the training.
