One day training on oral health for health workers of Ongpangkong Block was organised by National Oral Health Programme (NOHP) on January 19 at the Conference Hall of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Mokokchung. A press release by National Health Mission (NHM) Mokokchung stated that in his address, CMO Mokokchung, Dr. Kibangkumba encouraged the participants to create awareness among the youngsters on oral health.
Resource person Dr. Keneitheja (IMDH) stated that the main objective of the training was to promote oral health, identify and prevent common oral diseases, and give first aid in dental emergency. He mentioned sugar consumption, tobacco use, alcohol use and poor hygiene as some causes of oral disease, and tooth decay, gum disease, irregular death and oral cancer as some common oral diseases.
Stating that most oral and dental diseases are preventable, Dr. Keneitheja said early detection was the key to prevent every oral and dental problem.
