Two-day online training on “promotion of IPM in agriculture crop and horticulture crop” was organised by State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI) Medziphema on July 29-30.
A press release by SAMETI Medziphema stated that the training aimed at imparting technical knowledge on IPM in agriculture and horticulture crops to the participants was organised for deputy PDs and BTMs of ATMA at SAMETI, Medziphema.
Resource persons for the training were honey bee and pollinators, department of entomology, SASRD, NU Medziphema, scientist Dr.Avinash Chauhan, and department of entomology, SASRD, NU Medziphema, senior technical assistant, J. AkatoChishi.
Speaking on IPM in vegetable crops, Dr.Avinash highlighted the importance of pest infestation in vegetable crop and to integrate or mix different vegetable crops all round to reduce the loss of production and control on pest.
On the second session, J. Akato Chishi highlighted the principals and tools and techniques of integrated pest management, with specials reference to the current infestation of Fall Army Worm (FAW) on how to control the growth and preventive measures be taken in order to stop the loss of production.
The resource persons highlighted the importance of integrated pest management through scientific method and traditional method. Altogether 22 participants from different districts attended the training.
