DIMAPUR: A two-day batch wise training on Operation and Maintenance of PV Solar Power System and Saura eMitra was conducted on October 6 and 7.
The main objective of the programme was to create awareness among DRE users on the importance of regular maintenance and safe handling of solar power systems to prevent damage caused by improper usage, ensure user safety, and promote long term sustainability and optimum performance of installed systems.
The first session focused on maintenance schedules, covering topics such as solar panel visual inspection and cleaning, shading inspection and pruning of trees, battery inspection for dust and damage, and charge controller inspection for dust, error messages, and other abnormalities.
The second session dealt with safety alerts regarding the usage of DC appliances. It highlighted precautions such as avoiding connection of DC bulbs to AC bulb holders or standard AC outlets, the hazards of using DC bulbs in AC power sources, and the importance of checking DC bulb and fan labels for correct voltage and current.
The expected outcome of the training was for participants to adopt prescribed weekly and monthly maintenance schedules, identify early signs of damage or abnormalities in panels, batteries, and charge controllers, and follow safe practices while using DC appliances.
