A one day district level training on Routine Immunization Micro Plan and Health System Strengthening was conducted at the Conference Hall of Chief Medical Officer’s Office Kohima on August 6.
According to District Media officer (NHM),Chief Medical Office Kohima, the training consisted of more than 80 participants comprising of Medical Officers, Block Program Managers, Block ASHA Coordinators, Community Health Officers and Nurses from all health units under Kohima and Tseminyu districts.
Dr. Imkong Temsu Longchar, State Immunization Officer Nagaland and Dr. G.R.Rio, Dy. director UIP from DoHFW attended and participated in the day-long training.
The training consisted of various topics on RI Microplan formats, conducting quality headcount survey, supportive supervision & monitoring, safe injection practices, immunization waste management, Adverse Events Following Immunization (AEFI) & management of anaphylaxis, cold chain & logistics management, electronic Vaccine Intelligence Network (eVIN), U-WIN portal, communication plan for RI, Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) surveillance and use of data for improvement of immunization coverage and activity.
Dr. Leamnyei Konyak, CMO Kohima delivered the welcome address and resource persons for the training consisted of Dr. Khrievilhou Nakhro – DIO Kohima, District Programme Manager – NHM, District Community Mobilizer, Vaccine and Cold Chain Manager and partners from WHO and UNDP.
It may be noted that Kohima district Full Immunization coverage currently is at about 71% based on Census 2011 baseline data.
Routine Immunization microplan preparation/update is a routine activity during which health workers visit each and every household in urban and rural areas to identify pregnant mothers and newborn/children for due vaccination.
