Training on sericulture for women farmers

Hands-on training programme on “Package of practices in sericulture” for ten days was organized by Research Extension Centre (REC), CSB, Dimapur, under the aegis of Central Sericultural Research & Training Institute, Central Silk Board, Berhampore, West Bengal from January 20 to 30. 

A press release by REC, CSB Samaguri, Dimapur stated that, twenty women farmers selected by department of Sericulture, Nagaland participated in the programme, inaugurated by extension officer, Mejomongla Jamir in favour of district sericulture officer, DoS, Dimapur. 

Mejomongla Jamir in her inaugural address urged the farmers to get fullest possible benefit in earning technological expertise from the resource persons. Several experts from both state and CSB took part as resource persons, mainly Tenga Seb, assistant sericulture officer, Ninito, sericulture field assistant, Mejomongla, extension officer, all from department of Sericulture, DoS, Nagaland; Dr. Kartik Neog, scientist-D, REC, Dimapur and all technical staff of the unit of CSB-REC, Dimapur. 

Farmers were given practical knowledge primarily on various technical aspects of sericulture. Concluding session of the programme was chaired by Sarat Kr. Saikia, scientist-D (Retd.) CSB, and there was also distribution of participation certificates to the trainees. Vote of thanks was delivered by Babul Mech, TA, REC, Dimapur.
