One day training-cum-demonstration programme was conducted on soybean production technology by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Longleng at KVK office for, Bhumnyu village, Lingtak village and Yongphang Yongam village, Mongikang village, Sakshi village and Orangkong village in between July and August under Longleng district.
In the programme, SMS (Agronomy), Dr. Manoj Kumar spoke on importance of soybean and how it will fix nitrogen through symbiotic process and improve the fertility status of soil for benefit of succeeding crop. He also gave details lectures about the production technology of soybean such as soil & climate, suitable variety, spacing, nutrient management and time of harvesting.
Resource person SMS (plant protection), E. Lireni Kikon deliberated on major insect pest and disease and their management for higher production and productivity. Value addition and processing of soybean was taken by resource person programme assistant (Home Science), Thungchano S. Ezung who also spoke on methodology of soya milk and soya paneer preparation and its importance for nutritional security.
Altogether 146 farmers and farm women participated in the programme. Input like seed, manure, limes were distributed to the farmers.
