Basic training-cum-workshop on skill development to villages under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) was organised by Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) Longleng division at indoor stadium, here, on Thursday.
Acknowledging PHED division Longleng for organising the training programme in the district, special guest, EAC Ruokuosetuo was satisfied to learn that there were more percentage of local people in the workforce than non-locals.
He said that the youth between the age group 18-40 years constituted 40 percentage of local population.
The special guest encouraged the participants that the skill development training was an opportunity to enhance their skills and become self-reliant while contributing to the economy at large.
While delivering the keynote address, SDO PHED Longleng S. Chuba Phom said that the skill development training was organised to ensure the sustainability of water supply infrastructures by enabling stakeholders to take responsibility of operation and maintenance after completion of the schemes.
During the training, participants were trained theoretically and practically by demonstrating the use of equipment and tools on four trades such as plumbing, masonry, welding and electrician by skilled master trainers.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by IEC consultant PHED Longleng Dauom Phom while vote of thanks was proposed by district coordinator PHED Longleng Sumachiba Walling.
