Transformer damage triggers outage in Kohima

DIMAPUR, JUL 3 (NPN): A power transformer at the 132/33/11kV RESS Kohima substation was damaged during a thunderstorm, resulting in a power outage in and around Kohima district, with electricity remaining disrupted for nearly six hours in some areas.
In a press release, transmission division Kohima executive engineer Namheu Khate Zeliang said the department was making all-out efforts to restore power supply by arranging an alternative power source at the earliest.
He, however, said that during the temporary arrangement, the department might have to restrict the power load, which could result in increased load shedding. The department has, therefore, appealed to the public to bear with the inconvenience and extend their cooperation until normal power supply was fully restored.
