Transport department informs on issue of permits

State transport department has laid down guidelines on issue of permits for all goods transport vehicles and passengers service vehicles in the state which would come into immediate effect.

Under section 73 (a) (ii) and (iv) of the Motor Vehicles Rules for Excluded Areas, Assam, 1942 Nagaland Amendment Rules, 1983) as amended vide Notification No. TPT/MV/2/79 dated30/03/1983, para 16, the fees for permits in respect of goods transport vehicles and passenger service vehicles are fixed as follows: in respect of transport vehicles Rs. 25 per m.t per year; in respect of a taxi cab/tourist taxi Rs. 200 per year and in respect of a stage carriage/city bus/omni bus Rs. 320 per year. Under the provisions of Section 69 (2) of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and Rule 86 of Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, the state transport authority has issued base permits and national permits for all goods transport vehicles.

Further, the state transport authority has informed that it was authorised to issue base permits for all categories of passenger service vehicles for purpose of availing permits for tourist vehicles on the basis of which the all India tourist permit authorisation, inter-state permits, all Nagaland tourist taxi permits, inter-district contract carriage (bus) permits would be issued.

It also informed that the applicant must first obtain an assurance certificate from the state transport authority for issue of the above permits.
