Travel restrictions imposed on NH-2 from July 10-16

Mokokchung district administration has prohibited public travel on NH-2 (Mokokchung-Wokha) between 7 pm and 7 am from July 10 to 16.
A travel advisory issued by Mokokchung deputy commissioner (DC) Shashank Pradap Singh said the prohibition had been imposed in view of public safety and to allow uninterrupted road repair and maintenance work.
During the period, medium and light vehicles travelling towards Kohima have been advised to take the diversion road from Alichen-Mangmetong-Sungro-Doyang-Wokha and those travelling from Kohima to take diversion road from ‘O’ point-Wokha-Doyang-Sungro-Mangmetong-Alichen.


Further, as the road to Suruhuto via Longsa had been blocked due to heavy landslide, all commuters/public have been advised to avoid taking the route for safety till the road was cleared. Till then, alternative routes have been provided for all forms of light, medium and heavy vehicles bound for Suruhuto and Aghunato.
While all vehicles to Suruhuto have been asked to take diversion via Lumami-Akuluto-Kitsakita-Suruhuto, those travelling to Aghunato have been asked take diversion via Lumami-Akuluto-Zunheboto-Aghunato.
