Trg on skill development under JJM held in Dmu

A two-day training on skill development under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) support activities was held from December 8-9 at the PHED rural division office premises. The training was organised by District Water and Sanitation Mission (DWSM), PHED Dimapur district.

In a press release, IEC consultant, Vibou Seyie informed that the programme began with introduction by district coordinator, Imojungla.

The district coordinator informed that the training was aimed at imparting basic skill development in order to ensure sustainability of water supply infrastructures, adding that community participation would play a vital role in sustenance of water supply systems.

Speaking on the topic “sustainability of JJM schemes”, SDO (PHED) urban division, Mughalu V Sema said that sustainability of JJM schemes would depend largely on the role of the communities.

Operation and maintenance of the water supply systems by GP leaders/WATSAN and the skilled personnel would play a vital role on sustainability of the scheme, he exhorted.

Altogether 38 participants from 11 villages were trained on trades such as plumbing/fitter, welding and masonry. 

The programme was chaired by JE (PHED), Hotolu Aye. Certificates were also handed over to the participants by executive engineer, PHED (rural) division, Vikeduolie.
