DIMAPUR: A one day training programme for polling personnel in connection with the upcoming bye election to Ward No 11 of the Chumoukedima Town Council was held on June 11 at the deputy commissioner’s office, Chumoukedima.
According to a press release, the training programme was conducted in the presence of returning officer and additional deputy commissioner, Chumoukedima T. Lemlila Sangtam and assistant returning officer and extra assistant commissioner (HQ) Chümoukedima Er. Khriengunuo Theunuo.
During the training, district level master trainers briefed the polling personnel on election procedures, their roles and responsibilities to ensure the smooth and efficient conduct of the poll.
The returning officer has further called upon all candidates, political parties, ward councillors, civil society organisations and residents to extend their cooperation in ensuring a peaceful, free and fair election process in Chumoukedima Town. She also urged voters to exercise their democratic rights responsibly and contribute towards maintaining a conducive atmosphere during the election.
It further informed that the polling station for bye election to Ward No 11 of the Chumoukedima Town Council will be held at Government Middle School Chumoukedima, Block IV.
Polling will be held on June 16, from 7:30 a.m. onwards.
