Trg prog on PMKSY & hi-tech protected cultivation

A training programme on Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) and hi-tech protected cultivation was organised at conference hall SHN, here, on Monday.

The programme was organised by district horticulture department with North Bengal floritech partner Watila Longkumer as resource person.

At the programme technical session was carried out by the resource person where she spoke on the topic “PMKSY” and “hi-tech protected cultivation”.

Watila also spoke on the importance of drip irrigation which she said was the most efficient water and nutrient delivery system for growing crops.

She pointed out that delivering water and nutrients directly to the plant’s roots zone, in right amounts at the right time helped the plant get exactly what it needed.

She informed that there were many success stories with the method of drip irrigation where farmers could produce higher yields while saving water and fertilisers, energy and crop protection products.

Meanwhile, Watila demonstrated how to use drip irrigation machineries and highlighted the benefits of drip irrigation which included increase in yield, saving up water, more land could be irrigated with water which in turn saved fertilisers use efficiency and the labour was also reduced.

Further, she encouraged the farmers to make better use of the methods, to maintain the machineries and to work hard with available resources which were provided by the department free of cost.

The programme was followed by an interactive session where beneficiaries cleared doubts related to the machineries and ways to cultivate.

The programme was chaired by district horticulture officer, Dimapur Temsu Longkumer.
