Trg programme on FSM plans

To equip the state and district officials of Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) with essential knowledge and skills to develop and implement successful Faecal Sludge Management (FSM) plans, a three- day training programme was held from August 16 to 18 at PHED Conference Hall, Kohima.


A press release from PHED Sanitation & WSSO, State IEC Consultant Thepfulie stated that the capacity strengthening exercise was jointly organized by Nagaland PHED, UNICEF and PriMove Pune and was attended by more than 30 officials comprising of Executive Engineers, Sub-Divisional Officers, Junior Engineers and State Consultants from PHED.


The training was designed to foster a comprehensive understanding of FSM, encompassing its concepts, challenges and vital role in maintaining sanitation and hygiene.


The three-day event covered topics on SBM-G Phase II guidelines, retrofitting of toilets under ODF sustainability initiative, FSM concepts and requirements, as well as Urban-Rural convergence. An important session on sanitation workers’ safety and dignity underscored the commitment towards creating a safe and respectful working environment for those involved in the FSM process was also conducted.
