Ministry of tribal affairs, Government of India conducted a Tribal artisan employment mela at town hall Zunheboto, on September 23. According to a DIPR report, Government of India has launched a new scheme ‘‘Promotion of Tribal Product in North East Region’’ (PTP-NER) on April 18, 2023. In the first phase of Tribal Co-operative Marketing Development Federation of India (TRIFED) conducted in NE region, a total of 300 artisans attended out of which 115 was empanelled and subsequently the training of identified individuals was followed.
These 115 are being given a bulk order of around 3.36 crores for marketing through TRIFED.
Phase 2 started in Nagaland from September 21 to 29. In Zunheboto, DC Zunheboto, Rahul Bhanudas Mali, IAS inaugurated the programme, he was accompanied by Lieutenant Colonel Sanyam Kashyap, general manager TRIFED and senior program executive Ashif Ikbal Hussain.
During the artisan Mela, sample products are selected by TRIFED and its expert from other agencies who will be responsible for giving bulk order at a later stage. The products are thereafter sold through retail outlets of TRIFED and also through online portal tribesindia.com as well as Amazon and Flipkart. The artisans identified during Mela will be invited and sponsored by TRIFED for all India exhibition and fairs. As of Zunheboto a total of 198 tribal artisians participated out of which 32 were empanelled.
