Tribal Development Fund inauguration programme held

Inauguration of NABARD supported Tribal Development Fund (TDF) project at Amahator under Kiphire aspirational district was held on January 15, with DC Ajit Kumar Ranjan as chief guest. 

A press release by TDF Amahator project manager, T. Herili Sangtam stated that, MoU for establishment of shitaki mushroom units by the district administration and the project implementing agency, Better Life Foundation has been signed in the presence of the NABARD officials in Kiphire. 
Since development cannot take place in isolation for a sustainable and wholistic pathway, the DC decided to sponsor another 2 shiitaki mushroom units. 
Each of the 180 farmers would be supported with 100 fruit saplings of low chilling varieties apple, kiwi, pear, nectarine and peach with tamarillo, lemon grass and kholar/beans as inter-crop. For the landless families shiitaki mushroom 2 units would be established and also bee keeping. 
It is not only the landless beneficiaries, but the whole villagers are involved in the project. 
Tribal Development Fund (TDF) project is a NABARD supported integrated rural development programme primarily focused on promoting permanent farming system through WADI model. Under this project, total of 200 beneficiaries would be covered (180 land base horticulture and 20 off-farm enterprise for the landless families) 
The event was also attended by Dr. Khumdemo Ezung (programme coordinator) KVK Kiphire district and other officials from SBI, NABARD etc.
