Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Tribunal will hear the case of declaring NSCN (K) as “unlawful association” in its sitting on January 14, 2016, 3 p.m. in Court No. 19, ‘A’ Block, Delhi High Court, Sher Shah Road, New Delhi 110503 for further proceedings.
According to DIPR report, the Registrar of Tribunal asked NSCN (K) to appear before it through a duly authorized person on the mentioned date. Earlier, the Registrar, Unlawful activities Tribunal had served show cause notices to the National Socialist Council vide notification No.SO 2648(E), dated 28.09.2015 declaring NSCN (K) as “Unlawful Association”.
Centre on September 16, last declared the outfit as an unlawful organisation for a period of five years under Unlawful Activities (Prevention), Act, 1967, after it carried out the June 4 ambush in Chandel district in Manipur that left 18 security personnel dead.
MHA had also constituted a Tribunal comprising Justice Najmi Waziri, Judge of the High Court of Delhi, for adjudicating whether or not there was sufficient cause for declaring NSCN (K) as an Unlawful organization.
