Tripura minister fetes Bengali toppers

Tripura minister of Youth, Sports, Social Welfare, Social Education and Labour, Tinku Roy on Sunday felicitated the HSLC and HSSLC toppers from Bengali community at the felicitation programme organized by Dimapur Bengali Students Union (DBSU) at St. Mary Higher Secondary School Dimapur.


In his speech, Roy encouraged the toppers to contribute in their capabilities towards the growth of Nagaland since they were born and pursuing their studies in the state.
He also urged them to make a difference in the society and contribute towards building a great nation.
The minister also spoke on the new policy in Indian education system which focused on both studies and extra curriculum activities.


Roy while highlighting about several country’s achievement under Modi government, also mentioned about young Indian entrepreneurs who excelled and received global recognition.
He further encouraged the students to study hard, bring moral education to themselves and for the betterment of the country.


Bengali Samaj, President KK Paul in his short speech, said that students who excelled in the exams went through the toughest phase and brought laurels. He therefore encouraged the other students to not give up but put more efforts so that they could also bring laurels to themselves and to the community.
He thanked DBSU for hosting the yearly event.


Paul also mentioned that Nagas were the most generous community and encouraged the Bengali Students Union to tie up with the students bodies of Nagaland for better coordination.
Also speaking at the event, auditor general Naga Student Federation Kawoka V Awomi, said that students of the community have been thriving for excellence and organizing this kind of event will encourage more students to excel.


Short speeches were also delivered by NEC member BJYM Arvind Damani and president AABYSF Dipak Dey.
Earlier, DBSU president, Deepankar Sarkar welcomed the gatherings. Highlights of the programme included welcome song by Subash and group, group dance by Vishakha Debnath and group and Simon academy, solo dance by Priyakshi Das, Gokul Anand dance composition by Rishuv Poddar.


Other highlights of the programme included, Chandan Mazumder memorial award, Matri Bhasha Excellence award, felicitation of Faith in Action on their new Guinness World Record for the highest martial arts kick (assisted).


Altogether 27 students from high school and higher secondary were felicitated and awarded certificates including students who scored above 90% and cash prize to two Bengali subject toppers.
