Tikhir Students’ Union (TSU) has vehemently condemned the alleged brutal assault on a woman by “miscreants” when she was shopping in the heart of Shamator town on Wednesday.
In a press release, TSU general secretary Temong Y Tikhir and joint secretary, Visuthong T alleged that despite government notifications and deployment of security at Shamator sub-division, some Yimchungers were harassing innocent people including women folks.
TSU said that such act of barbarism has showed their inhumanity.
They claimed that such harassment and torture on Tikhirs began since first week of January.
TSU questioned the law enforcing agencies deployed at Shamator how these incidents were happening in their presence?
Stating that Tikhirs have been bearing all hurdles since the inception of this issue, with the hope that state government will justify and permanently settle the imbroglio.
However, TSU claimed that the assault on woman, has given them a thought that there would be no peace at all in the area.
It therefore, appealed to the state government to immediately book and arrest the culprits involved and award befitting punishment. TSU also demanded deployment of sufficient security forces so that no public and students who were going to appear for exams be disturbed.
