Tikhir Students’ Union and Longkhim Division Students’ Union (LDSU) have extended support on the indefinite closure of government schools within their jurisdiction called by the United Sangtam Students’ Conference (USSC).
In a press release, TSU president, Temong Y Tikhir and executive chairman, T. Rechongkiu remained firm on the demand of USSC especially for redeployment of teachers at the respective schools and those teachers transferred out from the district.
Maintaining that the called given by USSC was for the general interest of the pubic, TSU has urged the department to expedite the matter at the earliest so that school children who were preparing to appear the examinations were not hampered.
TSU further expressed the hope that the department will solve the problems for the welfare of the students community who were economically vulnerable.
Longkhim Division Students’ Union while endorsing the call given by USSC, demanded that the department should immediately cancel the transferred of teachers with post and ensure equitable distribution of teaching staff. It asked the detached teachers from VIPs (MLA), DEO, SDEOs and redeploy to their designated places of posting and redeployment of shortage of teachers in all the mentioned schools.
In a press release, the union The union also appealed to the concerned department to address the matters pertaining to students and subsequently, consider and accept the three outlined demands aimed at advancing the welfare of the student community at the earliest. LDSU further requested the students to endure these inconveniences as it was crucial for their overall progress.
