TSU, SSU, WTLPO, SYO hold respective general sessions

Thenyizumi Students’ Union (TSU) held its 65th general session under the theme “quality education” at GMS Thenyizu on Thursday.

The guest speaker Er. Mhaseto Nakro, principal, Khelhoshe Polytechnic Atoizu (KPA) speaking at the event said teachers had a major role for students to excel in their respective career, while adding that the parents and community can also play roles in shaping them.

Teachers are the key for students get their requisite lesson, Nakro said while adding that teachers were those who could guide the weaker students to further excel in academic performance. 

Quality education depended on the teacher’s way of teaching and moulding the students to excel, he said and that quality education provided all learners the knowledge required for them. 

“Give children what they need and not what they require” the principal advised the parents. He also said that community involvement in the school was required for bringing facelift and facilities for students to learn. 

On the other hand, he advised students to “Put all your efforts in what you do, you will be able to achieve your goals”.  He further cautioned students to make the best use of electronic gadgets and not let the gadget use them. He also reminded students to respect their elders. 

Zhothiyi Dawhuo Thenyizumi VCC sharing greetings congratulated the students who have successfully passed the NBSE exam and wished them good luck for their future endeavours. 

He impressed upon the students to be more dedicated in their work.  Hard work and struggles will bring you success, he assured. Earlier the presidential address was delivered by Medozo Dawhuo, TWSWO and cultural presentation by women society Thenyizumi. (Correspondent)

SSU: In a similar programme, Sakhabama Students Union (SSU) also celebrated its golden jubilee at Sakhabama Baptist Church (SBC) under the theme “fostering robust future” on Thursday. 

The guest speaker, Keyiekhru Rhutso, principal, Government Polytechnic, Kohima in his speech called upon the students to invest in the “present”, make wise decisions in choosing the right career and pursue it. Rhutso underscored the need to open up, change attitude and mindset stating that Nagas were too modest and reluctant to talk about their dreams.

He further advised the students to choose right career and added that all course are equally important and stressed on local importance and need for expertise in their field. Rhutso asked the parents to nurture their children. 

President, SSA, Er. Thejangulie Yongo delivering the presidential note said theme “fostering  robust  future”  was  to  recuperate  the  dying SSU and  use  it  as  the  vehicle  to  bring  promotion, competitiveness, peace  and  unity  within  Sakhabama  community.

Seyievonuo Y Chielie who was speaking for the closing session advised the students to possess the qualities of grit as a sustainable goal.

During the unveiling of monolith and hoisting of flag, Puleto, convenor, monolith committee chaired the programme and Methazel Kezo, senior pastor Sakhabama Baptist Church prayed for the event. 

Officials from Naga Students’ Federation (NSF), Angami Students’ Union (ASU), Southern Angami Students’ Union (SASU), and Southern Angami villages student bodies attended the programme. Sakhabama Youth Organisation (SYO) also celebrated its golden jubilee on Thursday. (Correspondent)

WTLPO: Wokha Town Lakhuti Pongdenro Okho (WTLPO) held its 14th general session on December 27 at Pangti Baptist Ekhumkho Ki with Dr. Zuben Kikon as the speaker. 

A press release from WTLPO media in-charge, Yanrenthung J Humtsoe stated that, speaker spoke on the importance of knowledge, education and wisdom which were the keys for leaders of tomorrow. He also advised the youths to advocate participatory leadership providing a common platform and sharing common goals. He further asserted that one should be physically, mentally, socially and spiritually alert to achieve a successful career.

A special prayer of blessing was offered for the youths by Phancham Kikon cultural secretary, Wokha Town Lakhuti Eloe Ekhung (WTLEE). Special number was presented by Hachithung Kikon. Meanwhile, Wokha Town Lakhuti Ekhung (WTLE), chairman John Ezung lauded the executives and all its members for their tireless effort in building the communication cap among its members and keeping the flame alive of the union. Short speeches were also delivered by Phancham Kikon cultural secretary WTLEE and Nchubomo Ngullie.

The programme was chaired by Yanrenthung Humtsoe, vote of thanks by general secretary WTLPO, Zubemo Patton and concluded with a prayer by Nchubomo Ngullie. Earlier, invocation was given by Kongkhen Patton and welcome address from WTLPO president, Sharon Kikon.

SYO: Sakhabama Youth Organization (SYO) celebrated its golden jubilee at Sakhabama under Kohima district on Thursday. Youth Resources & Sports advisor and Kohima DPDB chairman, Er. Zale Neikha was the guest speaker for the event. In his speech, he reminded the youths that employment avenue in government sector was limited, “no government will be able to provide employment to all the educated youth of the state” he said.  

He pointed out that Nagaland University produces an average 2800 graduates per year according to the statistical report while an average of 14,000 candidates apply for NPSC exam every year for 300 vacancies in various departments in the state. In this regard, he said that an average of 13,700 candidates was left unemployed in the state every year.

He therefore called upon the youth to be sincere, innovative and strive hard to sustain one’s life, other than depending on the state alone for job opportunities. 

The minister also stressed on the importance to preserve and promote the rich cultural heritage, and reminded the youths to take keen interest in practicing and learning the art of folk dance, song and indigenous games before all was lost. He also observed that Nagas had the potential to excel and reminded that Nagas are no less than anyone. He also called upon the youth to choose discipline based on their interest, rather than involving in all discipline of sports.
