Tsurila Jankhiungru receives warm welcome at Dimapur Airport

Tsurila Jankhiungrü from Nagaland, who was crowned 3rd Runners-Up at the Miss Grand India 2025 finale held on July 13 at Zee Studios, Jaipur, received a warm welcome at Dimapur Airport on Thursday. The program was organised by various Yimkhiung community from Dimapur and Chümoukedima, spearheaded by Western Yimkhiung Student Union.
Tsurila competed among 27 contestants from across the country. The national crown was won by Vishakha Kanwar of Rajasthan, who will represent India at Miss Grand International 2025 in Bangkok. Vanlalnuntluangi from Mizoram and Nandini Patel from Gujarat secured the 1st and 2nd Runner-Up positions, respectively.
Reflecting on her journey, Tsurila described the achievement not just as a personal victory but as a celebration for all Nagas. She expressed heartfelt gratitude to her supporters, sponsors, and especially her family, calling her mother her core inspiration. She acknowledged her team, designers, and well-wishers who stood by her throughout her journey.
Tsurila highlighted that financial support was crucial in her journey and expressed deep gratitude to her sponsors, and well-wishers who helped fuel her ambition. She stated that she stood as a beacon of hope and inspiration for younger generations not just for her community, but for all Nagas.
She acknowledged her hardworking team and designers for contributing to her success. She honoured her mother, describing her as her core inspiration and strength, and also thanked her siblings, noting that her confidence came from her family noting them as her backbone and strength. Throughout her journey, Tsurila credited her faith in God for guiding her and helping her win hearts with wisdom and grace.
Announcing her future plans, she shared her intention to launch a movement to travel across Nagaland and beyond, to empower and guide young aspirants, especially in the field of pageantry. She envisioned this as a collective effort of the Naga people that would shine on the national stage.
Tsurila’s past accolades include titles such as Miss Yimkhiung Students’ Union Kohima (2015), the First Miss Yimkhiung (2016), Oriflame Face of Northeast (2017), and Sunsilk Mega Miss Northeast (2018).
Earlier, the program was chaired by post graduate teacher, Rejoila, PGT, Invocation by Yimkhiung Baptist Borü Chumoukedima, pastor, Apong. Welcome address was delivered by western Yimkhiung Liberü Arihako, president, Asen. Short speeches were delivered by Western Yimkhiung Hoho, general secretary, Kewongkhüm Yimkhiung, Western Yimkhiung Students’ Union, vice president, Yantsumong and Yimkhiung Arihako Chumoukedima, president, Kiutsumong. Vote of thanks was pronounced by Yimkhiung Students’ Union Chumoukedima, president, Sorito.
