Tsütuonuomia Khel Day of Kohima village was observed with chairman Kohima Village Council, Dr. Neiphi Kire as the special guest at mission compound Kohima on Thursday.
Neiphi Kire said that the T. Khel forefathers had contributed greatly to the Naga movement and also laid the foundations of major institutions in the capital, including Kohima College and Science College Jotsoma.
He asserted that knowledge and education were the most important aspects of life.
dwelling on the importance of unity, he said the strength of Kohima village lay in unity because of which other Naga tribes had high respect for Kohima village.
He recalled that Kohima village had sacrificed their lands for the development of the capital and they had learned to accommodate other communities.
He also said that T Khel had much land in the town area and it would be good if the owners of commercial buildings rented their shops to local entrepreneurs.
Expressing fear that Nagaland would face a Tripura like situation, he discouraged employing illegal Bangladeshi immigrants for any work.
Advisor, T. Khel Council, Pelevituo Solo in his address said that a species that is not able to adapt and adjust to changes perishes and become extinct.
Likewise, he said one must learn to adapt to the changes taking place with the times.
He further pointed out that if the people do not abide by rules and regulations, whether in governance or public set up, there is will be inequality in society.
Chairman nomination committee Viu Belho declared the T. Khel council office bearers for the tenure 2018-2020 which is to be headed by Thepfuvilie Suohu as chairman, Helievio Solo and K. Neibou Sekhose as vice chairmen, Kelhousinyii Solo as general secretary, Vikietuo Belho and Neilakielie Whuorie as joint secretaries, and Kezhakietuo Sekhose as the treasurer.
The program was chaired by convenor of organizing committee K. Neibou Sekhose, an invocation prayer was said by deacon Sochiilie Solo, a welcome speech was delivered by chairman of T Khel council, Thepfuvilie Suohu. T. Khel Peli Union presented a folk song, Rongmei community performed a harvest dance, general secretary T. Khel council Kelhousinyii Solo gave the secretary’s report. T. Khel choir presented a special song, and vote of thanks was proposed by secretary of organizing committee Ruokuoneituo Phewhuo.
Later, in the evening, ex-chairman T. Khel council, Viliethie Solo graced T. Khel Nite as the honour guest.
