Trinity Theological College (TTC), Thahekhu, conducted the 28th graduation service on April 13 at the Rev. Dr. Kavito Zhimo Hall, and conferred to 116 graduates, including seven Master of Theology (M.Th.) and 109 Bachelor of Divinity (B.D.) students.
The occasion was graced by general secretary of the Council of Baptist Churches in Northeast India (CBCNEI), Prof. Rev. Dr. Akheto Sema, as graduation speaker. Addressing the graduates, Dr. Akheto emphasized that while the future belongs to the Lord, it was imperative for the graduates to take two essential steps forward.
The first step, he said was relatively easy — utilizing their acquired skills, talents, and the support received from family, church, and society. The second, and more challenging step, requires putting their learning into practice, demanding total dedication and a willingness to “carry the cross” and follow the path of sacrifice.
Encouraging the graduates to move beyond theoretical qualifications, Dr. Akheto highlighted that true ministry was tested through daily commitment and obedience to God’s call.
Drawing inspiration from biblical figures like Moses and Isaiah, he urged the students to courageously respond to God’s direction, reminding them that Christian ministry is a journey that calls for sacrifice and resilience.
Earlier, the service commenced with a call to worship and invocation by Dr. Vikato Achumi, followed by a welcome address by principal Rev. Dr. Hukato Shohe. Dr. L. Chumchano Ovung led the intercessory prayer, while Academic Dean Dr. Shelly Swu announced the proficiency awards.
E. Buviene (M.Th.) and Ghukali V. Yeptho (B.D.) delivered speeches on behalf of the graduating class, reflecting on their journey and future aspirations. Scripture readings by Hukheli Sema and Dr. Wungtei Buchem.
The awarding of diplomas was carried out by principal Rev. Dr. Hukato Shohe, Academic Dean Dr. Shelly Swu, and Dean of Higher Studies Dr. Imsu Longchar. It was followed by the commissioning and dedication of the graduates by director of the Sumi Baptist Convention (SBC), Rev. Dr. Khehovi Shohe. The service concluded with a recession and benediction pronounced by Dr. James Inaho Swu.
