Tikhir Tribal Council (TTC) has announced that it would not attend a meeting convened by Yimkhiung Tribal Council (YTC) at Shamator town on December 15.
Expressing regret for the inconvenience, TTC president Topan K Tikhir and general secretary W Tothong Philip in a press release said this was done taking into consideration Tikhir people’s general interest and the consensus that till the time the tribe was recognised by the State government no meeting shall be held between TTC and YTC.
They said joint tribal council meeting would take place between TTC and YTC, if the latter so desired, only in the presence of the State government and only after the government gave its recognition to Tikhir tribe
YTC had invited TTC for a tribal council meeting to work out modalities at Shamator town on December 15 at 10 a.m.
