Tenyimi Union Dimapur (TUD) has reaffirmed to support the stand of Dimapur Tribal Hoho Forum (DTHF) on the issue of installation of office bearers of Naga Council Dimapur (NCD).
In a letter to the Ao Senso Telongjem Dimapur (ASTD) on July 13, Tenyimi Union Dimapur president Hilo Semp while appreciating ASTD for taking the initiative to resolve the matter between the two parties, by way of signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and withdrawing the case pending under Civil Suit No.6 of 2020 and other connected IA’s confronting the NCD, however expressed dismay that the NCD in its letter dated July 5, 2021 had directed some tribes to re-nominate their representatives to NCD for the tenure 2020-2025. “We were optimistic and hopeful that the MOU executed on 6/5/21 through the initiative of your office would bring a final and logical conclusion once and for all,” it said.
But NCD’s letter totally nullified and contradicted the spirit of the MOU which was undertaken in a gentlemen gesture, the union stated. Moreover, TUD pointed out that the “selective choose and pick” of few tribes by NCD on tribal line “throws bad light which is not healthy and may have far reaching consequences in the near future.”
TUD therefore said that the union at its meeting on July 12, 2021 decided and reiterated on the stand of Dimapur Tribal Hoho Forum initiative and “also the incumbent councillors shall continue to represent their respective tribe unless otherwise.”
In this regard, TUD urged ASTD “to disseminate these facts to concern authority in line with the intent and content of the Memorandum of understanding initiated by the ASTD in the interest of all concern.”
