DIMAPUR: The Tenyimi Union Nagaland (TUN) held its executive council meeting with frontal organizations on May 15 at Shilloi Lake in Meluri.
Addressing the gathering, convenor of the advisory board, Razouvotuo Chatsu, said that the Naga Voluntary Plebiscite remains an impeccable record and a living testament supporting the established position of the Nagas as an independent nation.
He stated that the legacy left behind by past leaders must be upheld and stressed the need to protect Naga identity by following the path and foundation laid by the pioneers of the Naga national movement.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by Dr. Tumda Newme while vice president, CPO Vecüto Dozo, pronounced a prayer. The meeting was addressed by president, Rengma Hoho Gwasinlo Thong, president, Chakhesang Public Organization Vezühü Keyho, president, Angami Public Organization Thejao Vihienuo, and general secretary, Nagaland Zeliang People Organisation Enchang Hiaka. The meeting was chaired by TUN president Kekhwengulo Lea while Atathu Thurr invoked God’s blessings. Welcome address was delivered by president, Pochury Hoho Chonpa Jurry. A folk song was presented by Chakhesang Mother’s Association while treasurer report was given by treasurer TUN Mishento Apon,. Closing prayer was pronounced by president, Tenyimi Women Union Nagaland Zhonelü Tunyi.
As part of the programme, TUN members also undertook avocado plantation around Shilloi Lake and visited the International Trade Centre at Avangkhu.
