Two-day bank strike from today

United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU), which comprises of nine bank unions of employees and officers, has called for a two-day nationwide strike from January 31 to February 1 to protest against “unwarranted delay” in wage revision settlement for bank employees and officers due from November 2017 by Indian Banks’ Association (IBA).

Besides the proposed two-day strike, UFBU has also given call for similar agitation programmes including three-day strike (March 11-13, 2020) and indefinite strike from April 1, 2020. According to PTI report, many banks, including SBI, have informed customers that operations may be impacted to some extent due to the strike. The strike would coincide with the beginning of the Budget session of parliament and presentation of union Budget 2020-21.
