Two-day video conference for NLA general election

In view of the forthcoming general election to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) 2023, a two-day video conference was organised by the Election Commission of India November 29 and 30 for assessment of election preparedness and ground situations in Nagaland.
A press release issued by Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland, V. Shashank Shekhar informed that the video conference was held under the chairmanship of sr. deputy election commissioner, Dharmendra Sharma.
On the first day, the video conference was held with chief electoral officer Nagaland, state police nodal officer, team of officers from CEO office and deputy commissioners & district elections officers and superintendents of police of Dimapur, Peren, Kohima, Pughoboto, Phek, Mokokchung, Zunheboto and Wokha.
The topics discussed were cleaning of electoral rolls like DSEs, distribution of EPICS, EP ratio, voter’s turnout, management of EVMs, issues relating to polling stations, election expenditure monitoring, communication plan, webcasting, strong rooms for EVMs, PwDs, checkpoints, nodal officers for DLMTs, mapping of polling stations with normal, vulnerable and critical, assured minimum facility, requisition of security personnel, action taken for disposal of NBW, licence issued for arms, vehicles, manpower, etc.
The second day video conference was held with the remaining DCs & DEOs and SPs of Mon, Longleng, Tuensang, Kiphire, Noklak, Tseminyu, Chumoukedima and Shamator. Interaction was held with the Chief Secretary, DGP, CEO, state police nodal officer and administrative heads of Home, Finance, P&AR, Power, PHED, School Education, PWD/Transport, Social Welfare, Health & Family Welfare, Rural Development, Urban Development, Addl. DGP (Admin) and Addl. DGP (Law & Order).
The issues discussed were providing of Assured Minimum Facility at the polling stations, postings and transfers of officers/personnel, NIC and internet, assessment of police requirement in view of removal of AFPSA from certain areas, enforcement action, discussion with the counterpart states (inter-state), vehicle deficit, critical and vulnerable polling stations, seizures, requirement of CAPF, requirement of helicopter/air ambulance, COVID situation, issue of arm license, sealing of borders, financial matters, enforcement of Model Code of Conduct, contingency medical plan, accessibility of voters and check posts.
