Two-day w’shop on ‘volunteering for nature–human–wildlife co-existence’ underway

A two-day workshop on “volunteering for nature–human–wildlife co-existence: Gandhi philosophy”, was organised by Prodigals’ Home in collaboration with Eco-Club, SM college at Saku’s Mission College.
Speaker of the programme, chief wildlife warden, Dimapur, Satya Prakash Tripathi, stressed on ecological fund issues and espoused that the growing human population and increased accessibility to remote forests and adoption of modern tools has become a severe global problem, particularly in Nagaland. 
He added that the people should bear responsibility to protect fauna and flora of the land, since there is a special provision on ownership and transfer of land and its resources under Article 371 (A). Satya said that department would continue to set up help-lines in villages where people were in conflict with wild animals. 
He elaborated that “wild elephants languishing in private or community owned forests need to be rehabilitated through proper planning with the help of experts”. “We must do our bit by informing wildlife administrations and departments whenever there are traces of wild animals in our areas” and “every educated professional must do their part in conserving their ecology”, said the speaker.
Gulshan Gupta Gandhi from Smriti and Darshan Samiti, New Delhi encouraged students to participation in order to help them understand the “nature-human-wildlife” co-existence. Director C-CERP, Dimapur, Liangsi Niumai presented a talk on “understanding environmental Issue: how do we act” and threw light on the role of humans as ecological conservers.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by director, Prodigals’ Home, K.Ela and welcome address by principal, SM college, Dimapur, Arenla Aier. The two-day workshop is set to provide presentations and engage participants in discussions, so as to provide prolific results.
