
Two houses were reportedly gutted in separate fire incidents in Dimpaur and Jalukie on Tuesday. No casualty was reported in the incidents.
In the first incident, a house was gutted in an inferno that broke out near evening bazaar, Signal Bosti, Dimapur.
When contacted, ASI, K Hito Zhimo told Nagaland Post that the cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained. Fire officials informed that no casualty was reported, but properties estimated around Rs. 10 lakh including furniture and other machineries were destroyed. On receiving fire call at around 2:05 p.m., the department personnel swung into action and stopped the fire from spreading to nearby houses. Altogether, four fire engines were pressed into service.
In another incident, a “katcha” house was razed down in an inferno which broke out at Samziuram ‘B’ Block Jalukie.
No casualty was reported, however property worth Rs. 1.50 lakh (approximately) was destroyed. According to RO (E) (F&ES), on receiving the fire call, the team from Fire Station Jalukie with fire tenders and equipment were pressed into action.
As a result of the timely information and response, the fire was controlled and prevented from spreading to the surrounding houses.
Cause of fire was suspected to be from electrical short circuit. The response team was led by Duty Commander F/M Seikhojang Kuki.
