On the occasion of Independence Day, the President and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces has approved 82 gallantry awards to Armed Forces Personnel and members of Paramilitary Forces which include one Ashok Chakra, 14 Shaurya Chakras, 63 Sena Medals (Gallantry), two Nao Sena Medals (Gallantry) and two Vayu Sena Medals (Gallantry).
Of the 14 Shaurya Chakras (SC) awardees, two officers are from Capt. Elisen Y Jami of the 12 Parachute Regiment (Special Forces) and Atu Zumvu (SDPO) of the Nagaland Police.
