DIMAPUR, JUL 17 (NPN): Two newly constructed roads on Lane 14 and Lane 11 under Ward 1 of the East Dimapur Town Council (EDTC) were inaugurated on Friday at Model Colony, East Dimapur.
The road on Lane 14 was inaugurated by EDTC councillor Nito Achumi. The programme began with an invocation by Rev. James Seb, pastor of Rengma Baptist Church, Model Colony, Purana Bazar, followed by a short address from Monidhar Mech.
The road on Lane 11 was inaugurated by EDTC councillor Krishna Mech. Speaking on the occasion, a resident of EDTC, Hovito Yepthomi described the road as a long cherished dream of the residents that had finally become a reality. He said the stretch had been one of the most deplorable roads in East Dimapur and had remained without development for years.
Yepthomi recalled that in the past, residents had to contribute from their own pockets to lay sand and gravel to make the road motorable. He expressed gratitude to the East Dimapur Town Council for constructing the road and acknowledged the support of advisor Hekani Jakhalu in making the project possible.
The roads were constructed under the leadership of EDTC chairperson Niuto Awomi. During the programme, appreciation was also expressed to the Nagaland government for its support in facilitating the road construction.
