TYS celebrates silver jubilee, 11th Tsophima Day

Tsophima youth society (TYS) celebrated its silver jubilee at Mima December 29 and 30.
To commemorate the celebration, a monolith was erected and a souvenir was released. Jubilee flame was lighted by eminent sports personalities.
Addressing the inaugural function as chief guest, village council chairman Khriesavilie Khamo commended the youth for the achievements in the field of sports in the past years that brought laurels to the village. He encouraged the gathering to “stand firm and soar higher” as the competition was tougher.
The celebration was attended by all frontal organizations of the village, Southern Angami youth Organization (SAYO), in-laws and a host of well-wishers.
Volleyball, arm wrestling, tug- of-war and other traditional games also took place. A wrestling exhibition of below 12 years boys was organized to promote the traditional values of sports among the younger generation.
The gathering was enthralled by jubilee theme song presented by jubilee choir. The inaugural function was led by convener organizing committee Kamo Leno, presidential address was delivered by Vibeizo Rhutsu and compeered by Kezhadi Leno.
Meanwhile, 11th edition of Tsophima Day (Education Session) was observed at Jubilee ground Zadialü Mima village on January 3. Members comprising both villagers and “town dwellers” participated in the programme.
 (PWD) Kohima central division junior engineer Vibeizo Khamo, who was the speaker, emphasized that education acquired with hard labour should be utilized through purposeful living. He added that “everyone” cannot be accommodated in the government set up, which is why “each one should venture into any feasible projects” that would sustain without depending on others.
Speaker pointed out that education was the “based force of all better living” and encouraged the gathering to utilize their “potentials to the fullest”. Merit awards were given out to the top 20 students of the last academic session.
