The Urban Development Department (UDD) carried out pothole repair works in Dimapur city as part of its vision to bring about planned development. The department, which commenced the repair work last September, has already covered several areas including Half Nagarjan traffic point, Flyover stretch and Khermahal stretch till Hotel Tragopan Hotel.
UDD official told Nagaland Post on Monday that the department would soon launch phase-II as they have identified a few damaged culverts at Half Nagarjan traffic point.
Workers were seen covering the potholes in wee hours of Monday. They would now proceed to Tajen Ao Road, Notun Basti area till DC court charali junction.
One of the engineers informed that as part of the maintenance initiative, the department has forwarded emergency maintenance plan to the state government with a proposal package amounting Rs.15-20 lakh.
He said that the department has recently issued one work order under special assistance (FY 23-24), which would cover colonies like West Yard, DMC office area road stretch and Deluxe Point (Bata Charali line). The engineer informed that the road stretch from Flyover to Deluxe Point would be blacktopped after the monsoon season.
MP Road and Hazi Park area would also cover under the special assistance proposal. The repairing of potholes was likely to be completed by the end of October.
