Fifteens candidates of several districts were declared unopposed while two candidates withdrew their nominations on June 26. Various councils have also called for meeting in view of the upcoming Urban Local Bodies election.
KMC: The Kohima Municipal Council Office, Kohima, on Tuesday formally presented the certificates of election for KMC to five candidates by RO, T. Lanusenla Longkumer. The presentation ceremony was held in the presence of Secretary to the Government of Nagaland and Election Observer for the KMC, Anthony Ngullie.
The candidates received the Certificates of Election as they were the lone contestants in their respective wards. The recipients were Kelhousenuo Khruomo (NDPP) for Ward No. 1 – Highschool, Avilie Rio (NDPP) for Ward No. 2 – Bayavu, Thejavizo Philip Solo (NDPP) for Ward No. 8 – New Market, Neibodzelie Solo (NDPP) for Ward No. 11 – PWD, and Ketousie Khamo (NDPP) for Ward No. 15 – A.G.
Zunheboto: ADC Zunheboto & RO ULB elections, Keyirangding Hegui administered official formalities and Declared Niukali K. Assumi, contesting with NDPP ticket, as candidate unopposed and uncontested, to fill the office of ZTC from ward no. 4, Old Town Colony, Women Reservation Ward, on June 18.
Wokha: Four candidates were declared unopposed for the Wokha Town Council (WTC) election 2024, for the ensuing Urban Local Bodies election.
Returning Officer & ADC, Wokha, K. Furhesie Nyuwi handed over the declaration of unopposed winning certificates to the four candidates, on June 18 at Deputy Commissioner Conference Hall, Wokha in the presence of ARO & SDO (C) Tsidi, following unopposed candidates were presented the certificate, Renthunglo Kikon (NDPP) Ward No.1 (Reservation), Lily T Humtsoe (NCP) Ward.No 4 (Reservation), Nzano Kikon (BJP) Ward No-13 (Reservation) and Rukhumo Kikon (BJP) Ward No.14.

With the declaration of four unopposed out of the 15 wards under Wokha town council, 27 candidates will compete for the remaining 11 wards under Wokha Town Council election, two women candidate are contesting on general category. One candidate from Ward No.15 withdrew his candidature for the upcoming WTC election 2024.
Mokokchung: With the last date for withdrawal of nominations for the upcoming urban local body (ULB) elections expiring on Tuesday, only one candidate – Imtimeren from Lijaba Lijen ward – withdrew his nomination. With this, five candidates in the Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC) got elected unopposed.
The winning candidates are Wabang Kichu from Lijaba Lijen Ward, Walunila from Penli Ward, Maongtula Longchar from Alempang Ward, Imtiyapang from Aongza Ward, and Imkongchuba A from Dilong Ward. All the five elected councilors are from the NDPP.

Chozuba: 28 candidates are in the fray for the nine wards for the ULB election to the Chozuba Town Council. ADC & RO, Chozuba, Dr. Diana Patton, informed that a total of 28 candidates, including nine women and 19 men will contest for nine seats. She also informed that one candidate had withdrawn his candidature.
MCC: The Middle Colony Council, Purana bazaar (Ward-7 middle ward), under the East Dimapur Town Council through its press release from chairman MCC Hokhuvi Aye informed that the council held a meeting on May 10 and passed the following resolution that no outsiders should be allowed to enter within the jurisdiction of ward-7 on the polling day June 16, inorder to avoid proxy voting and to maintain peaceful atmosphere for smooth conduct of free and fair election.

YZCC, SRCC: The Y. Zhimo Colony Council (YZCC) and Signal Rio Colony Council (SRCC), after its meeting on June 14, informed that the council has adopted the following resolutions pertaining to ULB election that non-registered voters or outsiders should not allowed to enter the premises of polling station No. 1 of ward -23, contesting candidates and residents of these two colonies must maintain peaceful conduct of election and must not indulge in any acts disturbing the peace and harmony.
The council encouraged everyone who have their names registered in the E-roll to exercise their franchise without any fear and further warn to initiate appropriate action against non-compliance.
