The State Election Commission in a DIPR report has stated that the ULB polling was peacefully held on June 26 in 24 municipalities spread across 420 polling stations and 214 wards. A total of 523 candidates, including 325 males and 198 females were in the contest. It informed that the polls went smoothly in all Polling Stations except in 1 (one) under Dimapur Municipal Council, the matter of which is under the examination of the State Election Commission for further action.
SEC informed that a provisional poll percentage of 83.54% voter turnout was recorded at the time of updating reports received. Atoizu Town Council recorded the highest voter turnout with a poll percentage of 95.47% while Changtongya Town Council registered the lowest turnout with 67.70%.
It also informed that re-poll, if any, will be taken on June 28 as notified in the Election Programme and the counting of votes shall be held on June 29 at the approved Counting Centers.
Mokokchung: Election to the Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) under Mokokchung district was held peacefully with district Administration and Security personnel covering all the polling stations under the district to ensure free and fair elections in the district.
Mokokchung Municipal Council election recorded voters’ turned out at 82%, Changtongya Town Council recorded at 67.7%, Tuli Town Council recorded at 81.7% and Mangkolemba Town Council recorded at 94.77%.
Medziphema: The First ULB Election for Medziphema Town Council was held peacefully without any reports of untoward incidents. The Town has 9 (Nine) Wards with 11 polling stations out of which Ward No.7 was declared unopposed. It has a total number of 5,474 electors with 2,736 male and 2,738 female voters.

The overall voters turned out were recorded at 87.35%, and the polling passed off peacefully without any untoward incident or violence.
Wokha: The Wokha Town Council election which was held on June passes off peacefully without any untoward incident. Free, fair and smooth electioneering process was conducted in all the polling stations under Wokha district.
In one of the ward, the colony Council Chairman (GA Project-Ward-9) during the visit of the Observer & Addl. Secretary, Hiazu Meru the chairman appealed to the ward voters for free, fair and peaceful conduct of ULB election, and requested the bogus voters to abstain from participating in the voting process.
Overall poll percentage for Wokha Town Council (WTC) for the 11 wards is 89.77%, and it may be mentioned that out of 15 wards, 4 candidates were elected unopposed.
Bhandari: 93.25% voters turn out to exercise their franchise for the ULB Election in Bhandari Town Council election 2024 on June 26. The polling passed off smoothly.
Out of the total 9 Wards, polling was held in 7 wards as 2 Candidates from NPF Party were declared unopposed.
Altogether, 6 women candidates from women reserved wards and 15 male candidates contested in the election. Twenty two (22) years old and a fresh college graduate, Nzanrhoni I. Mozhui, daughter of Issac Mozhui from Bhandari village was the youngest candidate on BJP ticket, while 79 years old, Khosathung Tsopoe from Pangti village was the oldest candidate on NPF ticket in the ULB election, Bhandari.
Joint Secretary & Observer, Avelu Ruho NCS, and ADC & RO, Bhandari, Longdiba L. Sangtam visited all the polling stations and wards to ensure peaceful and smooth conduct of the election. Tight security was provided throughout the polling exercise under the supervision of Commandant 7th NAP, Bhandari and SDPO, Bhandari.
After voting was concluded, ballot boxes were taken to district headquarter, Wokha escorted by ADC and RO, EAC and ARO, EAC Champang, Commandant 7th NAP Bhandari, and SDPO, Bhandari along with Police personnel.
Chozuba: The polling for ULB election 2024 for Chozuba Town Council passed off peacefully. All together 28 candidates were in the fray under nine wards, 28 candidates include nine women and 19 male.
