Ulikhrie folk group from Nagaland represents State in Dehradun

The Ulikhrie folk group from Chedema Village, Kohima, under the direction of Dr. Keneilhoulie Medom, represented Nagaland at the 25th Anniversary Celebration of Himalayan Art, Music, and Culture, NINAD, held on November 1, at the Himalayan Culture Centre, Dehradun.
Delivering a mesmerizing performance that showcased the traditional folk songs and dances of their ancestors, the group captivated the audience with their authenticity and artistry, earning a standing ovation from attendees
Their exceptional performance and dedication to preserving indigenous traditions were further recognized when the chief secretary of Dehradun felicitated the group, commending their contribution to promoting cultural harmony and heritage through music.
“My dream for Ulikhrie Folk Group extends far beyond performing in Nagaland. I envision them not just representing the Angami Tribe, but showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Nagaland on an international stage. My goal is to elevate our traditions to new heights, allowing the world to experience and appreciate the vibrant culture of our people.” Medom shared.
Dr.Medom extended special gratitude to Col. Gaurav, former Commanding Officer of Territorial Army Jakhama, for hosting and taking care of the folk group during their stay in Dehradun.
